Generals tame the Cougars
The Quality Foods Oceanside Generals are coming off one of the biggest wins of the season. The Generals snapped a 15 game losing streak in Victoria against the Cougars on Thursday with a 2-1 win.
The last win prior to Thursday night for the Generals on the road against the Cougars was back on December 9th 2010 a 4-3 shootout win. Kyle Yamasaki scored the game winning goal.
” I thought it was our best sixty minute effort of the year. From start to finish we played the body on Victoria, guys were getting pucks in deep and making smart plays all around” said Assistant Coach Chris Lennox after the game.
A great passing play got the scoring started for the Generals after Brady Kay took a nice feed from Greyson Weme. For Kay it was his 8th goal of the season matching a career high.
“It was a really good team effort tonight, all the boys were going. I had some new line mates tonight got a goal with them, it was great” said Kay post game.
Landon Dziadyk notched his 23rd goal of the season and James Brendeland made 31 saves for the Generals.
The Generals game against Comox last Friday was cancelled due to the weather and bad conditions. The makeup date will be Tuesday Feb 19th at the Howie Meeker Arena. Game time is 7PM.
