Oceanside Generals Information

Q: How many teams play in the VIJHL?
A: 9 Teams (5 South & 4 North)

Q: Which teams play in the South & the North?
A: Peninsula, Victoria, Westshore, Saanich, and Kerry Park play in the south. Campbell River, Comox, Oceanside, and Nanaimo play in the north.

Q: How many games in a season?
A: 48 Regular Season games & Playoffs. 8 teams make the playoffs and each series is a best of 7.

Q: How do the Generals travel?
A: We charter our buses through Wilson Transportation. We have pick up locations both in Parksville & Nanaimo for our players. Post-game meals are including for our players (Pasta,Wraps, Pizza, etc.)

Q: How much are player fees?
A: Player fees are $5,000 for the season, excluding billet costs. $5,000 is the minimum set by the VIJHL and each team can adjust fees for their program to whatever amount above $5,000 that they wish. The Oceanside Generals have consistently kept our player fees at the league minimum and no higher.

Q: What is included in the player fees?
A: Player fees cover ice costs, insurance, coaching staff, trainer, dryland training, bussing costs,
meals on road trips. The following gear is also included in these fees:
– Helmet
– Gloves
– Socks
– Shells
– Dryland Gear (Shorts & T-Shirt)
– Hoodie

Q: How is the Generals Organization different?
A: We are a community owned not for profit society operated by a board of directors. Each director is a volunteer and does not have any financial stake in the organization. All funds collected by the Generals organization are used 100% for the team and the program.

Our hockey focus is to provide an environment that allows players to continue to grow both as hockey players but just as importantly as young men. We are driven by the success of our players and our sole focus is to allow them to meet their hockey goals
