Generals Recap from a busy week.
The Oceanside Generals played 3 games in 4 days this week.
On Wednesday the Generals traveled to Colwood to take on the Westshore Wolves.
The game was played at the Juan de Fuca Arena due to ice issues at the Q-Centre.
The Generals went down 2-0 early in the first but battled back to tie the game up 2-2 late in the period with goals from Will Norman and Cage Newans.
After 40 minutes the Generals led the game 4-3 after second period goals from Landon Dziadyk and another from Will Norman.
The Wolves would tie the game up 4-4 early in the third period.
But Greyson Weme’s first of the season would put the Generals up 5-4 at the 6:54 mark of the final frame. The Generals would hold on for the win.
James Brendeland made 40 saves in the victory.
On Friday night the Generals headed up to Campbell River to battle the Storm for the first of 10 meetings this season.
The Storm would strike with two goals in the first period before Landon Dziadyk got one back before the period ended.
The Storm would score two more goals in the second period and take a 4-1 lead into the third.
The Generals would pull within a goal in the third period with goals from Cage Newans and a short-handed marker from Dawson Heathcote to make it 4-3.
But a power-play goal late in the third would seal the game for the Storm 5-3.
Brandon Hannibal had a three point night assisting on all three Generals goals.
The Generals out shot the Strom 44-30
The Generals returned home Saturday to face the Saanich Braves.
Captain Landon Dziadyk got the Generals on the board with a power-play goal with just under five minutes to play in the opening period. Elijah Goyer would add another before the period ended.
In the second both teams would trade goals.
Greyson Weme’s second of the season put the Generals up 3-2.
The Braves pulled within a goal in the third before rookie Cage Newans made it 4-2 on the power-play.
The Generals would hold on for the win and improve to 5-2 on the season.
Next up for the Generals a home game against Comox on Friday and a road game Saturday night in Mill Bay against the Kerry Park Islanders.
