Mixed results this week for the Generals
The Generals won their 4th game in a row on Thursday night in Nanaimo 3-1 over the Buccaneers.
Dawson Heathcote got the Generals on the board just over three minutes into the opening frame with his 5th goal of the season after a great pass from Cage Newans.
The Buccaneers would tie the game up shortly after with a goal from Dylan Tonks.
The Generals would re-take the lead at 9:33 of the second period with a Power-Play goal from Landon Dziadyk. With the goal the Generals Captain extended his goal scoring streak to 7 games. Brady Kay and Cage Newans picked up the assists on the goal.
The Generals would add to their lead with another Power-Play goal in the third period from Dawson Heathcote his second of the game. Logan Cursley picked up the lone assist on the goal.
With the win the Generals improved to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 against Nanaimo.
James Brendeland made 21 saves in the win.
The two mid-island rivals will meet again in the Harbor City on October 31st.
On Saturday night the Generals returned home to face the Peninsula Panthers in a battle of two first place clubs.
The Panthers would score two goals in the first period to take an early 2-0 lead.
In the second period rookie Cage Newans would get the Generals on the board, Brady Kay picked up the lone assist.
After two more goals from the Panthers in the middle frame, Newans would get his second of the game and 7th of the season to bring the Generals within two goals.
In the third the Panthers would add a pair of goals and go on to win the game 6-2.
The loss snapped a four game winning streak for the Generals who fall to 8-3 on the season.
The Generals will look for a better result when they travel to Peninsula on Friday to battle the Panthers again.
