Dawson Heathcote – VIJHL’s Top Forward 2019/2020 Season
Last weekend Generals forward Dawson Heathcote was named the VIJHL’s Top Forward.
Before the opening face off of Game 3 against Kerry Park he was handed the Brian Morrison Award. Dawson is the first General to win the award.
“It’s a pretty cool accomplishment for me. Obviously my team helped me out, we won a lot of games.”
Dawson collected 63 points in just 43 games for the Generals this season.
“I’m thankful for my teammates and I’m pretty happy I got the award. I’m happy I beat my points record when I was 16, that was my goal this year.”
It’s the second big award for Dawson, who was named the Rookie of the Year in the VIJHL for the 2016-17 season.
Both awards for the Nanaimo product have come with Dan Lemmon behind the bench.
“It was well deserved, Dawson is for sure one of the best forwards in the league. He has contributed to our team offensively and he gives it his all every game.
Dawson currently has at least a point in 16 straight games.
Congratulations Dawson!
